"Rosie Dunne" by Cecelia Ahern - A Sweet Story
Very sweet story and very interestingly narrated! A story which would make the reader smile, cry and laugh with the characters yet make them feel lost & aloof at times. The story is never directly narrated but it moves forward in the form of e-mail, letter and chat conversations. Innovative style, must say and very well written. Not even for a minute do you feel left out or cheated, it's a story which keeps you glued and guessing till the very end.Rosie & Alex are childhood friends, rather the best friends, who grow up together in Dublin and as they hit the teenage they start getting attracted to each other and loving each other. But soon Alex moves out of Dublin to Boston as his dad gets a job there. Rosie is planning to join him in Boston once she finishes school, but fate has other plans. She gets pregnant and drops out of college. She becomes the mother of a beautiful daughter Katie & Alex becomes the Godfather of the child. They both keep in constant touch while both get married and ultimately divorced. Story keeps bringing them closer and suddenly takes them apart because of misunderstandings. But they are best friends who stand by each other through thick & thin, all the while being madly in love with each other and not knowing each other's feeling. The story is full of twists and turns, some expected some not. No doubt it is beautifully written and is engaging. Each character is so neatly etched out that you feel you actually know each one of them and you know after a while how they would react. You feel that you have personally met these characters, though they are not described as such.Rosie goes through a lot - getting pregnant just as she finishes her school, raising a child alone, bearing with a cheating husband, losing loved ones, parents, divorce yet she manages to fulfill her dream of her lifetime, owning a hotel one day! Yes she manages to do that because of support from her best friend Alex and Ruby. She is inspiring and a very strong character, every time she feels she has everything sorted, life puts her through another test and she always emerges out as a winner.A good book for a relaxed reading and I can assure you it gets difficult to put this book down. A very new style of writing- fresh & crisp! Cecelia Ahern hats off to you! seuss book collection sets cat hat
